The Fort Smith Rose Society has been affiliated with the American Rose Society since 1939. It is the oldest Rose Society in Arkansas. The Society has been instrumental in promoting the rose through many projects -- first at teas and garden parties and later through Annual Rose Shows, Mother's Day garden tours and assisting the Mayor of Fort Smith in getting the Rose named the City's Official Flower.
Members volunteer in helping maintain the Public Mayor Baker Memorial Rose Garden in which they were able to get a Rose named 'Mayor Ray Baker' and plants placed in the garden. Promoting the Rose has always been top propriety of the Club. There are Consulting Rosarians who are trained to help the public on any aspect of rose growing. They are trained in chemicals and all aspects on growing and maintaining healthy rose gardens. They volunteer their expert advice.
There also are certified Judges in both Horticulture and Arranging which are trained and volunteer their expert knowledge for Rose Show. They are trained in all kinds of Roses. Several are experts in certain areas such as Hybrid Teas, Miniatures, Shrubs and Arranging.
Membership is open to anyone who wants to learn and help extend Rose Knowledge and the love of the Rose to others. Current dues are $10 single membership or family for $15. Inquires can be sent to current President Barbara Jettton. Email her by clicking here.
Thank God for beautiful roses and their message today and always.
